A wonderful and special old doll with a rich sentimental history preserved.  Tony Doll has had one owner, and was exceptionally loved by this owner since 1916, when his father won the doll at a carnival.  Truly a RARE ITEM due to the detailed history with picture provenance.

From the daughter of the owner:
Vintage 1916 Composition Doll - restored - in soldier suit
This Compostion doll is from my father's estate.  My grandfather  won this doll throwing baseballs at a "metal milk bottles" game in a carnival in Kokomo, Indiana in the summer of 1916 and "Tony" was given to my father, then a young child, and became my father's companion througout his life (1915-2006). Here are the details as I know them from my father:
Made of stocking-net and cloth, Tony's head and hands are painted in oils.  His head and hands were varnished at some point in the 1920s to keep them from cracking.  This is why he has a dark color.
To see what Tony looked like there is an original of my father with Tony and one from my father's childhood (copy to accompany Tony, original not included)
Tony is 29 inches long and weighs about 6 lbs.
Tony originally had a lightweight canvas soldier suit.  Because it was the depression, my father dressed in Tony's original clothes when he was age 2 and 3 and, hence, they eventually got lost.   Tony wore overalls for a time and the soldier suit he wears now was custom made for him in 1984.
Tony was restored by Anna Frames Dolls and Collectibles of Alexandria Virgina in 1984, including a new soldier suit to replace the original one (which was lost).    My grandfather acquired it in 1916 so we only know that the doll is at least 93 years old.
My father's WW2 warrant officer bars, marksman badge and overseas ribbon are on the doll.

Also included is an original hand written note from original owner detailing the history of Tony Doll as stated above.

The doll was LOVED and CHERISHED!!
